Fifth-grade students and ninth-grade students at Mount Madonna School participated in a cleanup of Cowell Beach on Friday.
The fifth graders are studying great white sharks as their in-depth class environmental project while the ninth graders are focused on reducing plastic pollution in the environment, and plastic debris is a significant portion of the debris that will be gathered along the beach, according to a release from the school. Note, although originally planned as a fifth and ninth grade buddies field trip, schedules shifted and MMS ninth grade students were not actually part of this educational and service activity.
