Santa Cruz Sentinel, 9/20/2017, “Boys Cross Country Preview,” by Nick Kazden.  …Mount Madonna >> Since Mount Madonna is a smaller school with significantly fewer runners to draw from, sometimes the Hawks have trouble being competitive. Nonetheless, in 2016 they put together enough runners to score as a team for the first time at the SCCAL championships, even if they did finish eighth.

Mount Madonna is currently in the middle of a pilot program to add yoga to their official curriculum and second-year coach Nick Cabassa is already trying to figure out how to integrate it with the cross country program.

“I’m gonna set aside some time to do some real yoga stretches and mindfulness meditation that will hopefully help the runners push past the breaking point once they get there,” he said… Read more
