Register Now for Mount Madonna Summer Programs for Children and Teens

Mount Madonna School is offering two active, outdoor-oriented engaging opportunities for students this summer: Mountain of Fun, our annual program designed for children entering 1st – 8th grades; and new this year, Writing in the Redwoods, three creative writing retreats for teens entering 9th- 12th grades and graduating seniors.
We invite your child to spend time on the mountain this summer at Mount Madonna School’s enriching Mountain of Fun! You may register for one, two, three or all four weeks of this program that runs July 18 – August 12, Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 3:30pm. Taught by knowledgeable MMS faculty, and designed for students entering 1st – 8th grade, activities include arts & crafts, cooking & baking, forest play, and more. Additional options include makers’, horse and volleyball camp.
The volleyball camp will be coached by incoming Middle School Athletic Director Erin Mitchell (’10). Mitchell was recently profiled in the Santa Cruz Sentinel for earning a bid to the state beach volleyball championships; she is part of the Cabrillo College womens team (Read the Sentinel article).
Join us as we journey into the woods and into story for Writing in the Redwoods summer creative writing retreats. Crafting stories and poetry allows us to explore our own truths, curiosities, and humanity. The redwood forest on the mountain is full of inspiration and magic. We will explore imagery, character, conflict, and lyrical language – and most of all, we will write. Writers of all experience levels and narrative forms are welcome. There will be opportunities to share work and receive constructive feedback. Whether you wish to bring a project you are already working on or begin a new project or simply immerse yourself in story and language, this retreat will deepen your writing practice and evoke the playfulness and passion of literary exploration. Taught by J. Haley Campbell, MMS high school English and creative writing teacher.
