MMS Senior to Speak at TEDxYouth@Watsonville Conference

Please join us:

May 19, 2013, from 10:00am – 3:00pm at the Mello Center for the Performing Arts in Watsonville for the first ever TEDxYouth@Watsonville Conference.

One of the featured speakers is MMS Senior Amber Zeise. Amber is a senior at Mount Madonna School and wants to pursue a career as a psychotherapist. As part of her study, she traveled to India where she worked with children who are orphaned and living in extreme poverty. Through this journey she saw children in horrific circumstances discover themselves as vibrant human beings without the help of modern pills or therapy. Amber came to the conclusion that love is the best therapy and asks why it tends to be ignored in the western healing systems.

About TEDxYouth@Watsonville:

This is an historic event. For the first time, youth from throughout Santa Cruz County will unite for their very own TEDxYouth event on May 19, 2013 at the Mello Center for the Performing Arts in Watsonville. Speakers and performers will share their “IDEAS WORTH SPREADING.” All of them will be teens.

Wondering what TED is?

  • TED is a global movement devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” TED started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has broadened globally.
  • TEDx was created to expand TED’s mission and give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED experiences at local TEDx events designed to spark deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
  • TEDxYouth is the youth extension of the TEDx vision with events for youth sprouting up everywhere — bringing together local educators, organizations and youth for activities, live talks and storytelling.
  • TEDxYouth@Watsonville is a production of the Watsonville Youth City Council.
