The first Mount Madonna School (MMS) junior robotics team recently began preparing for the Wonder League Robotics Competition. ‘Wow! A new egg!’ said a wide-eyed six-year-old girl, extending her arm to show this ‘treasure.’ As students took turns wrapping their fingers around the egg’s warm brown shell, nearby classmates cuddled accommodating hens or peered through wooden pens, coming face to face with hairy goats.
Last week was a bustle of activity in the Spanish classroom, where all students grades 3 through 11, helped to create pieces for a large, group ofrenda installation honoring D’a de los Muertos .

Four years ago, when Mount Madonna School (MMS) student Ronan Lee was in elementary school, he chose to learn about conservationist and biologist Jane Goodall for a class project on ‘moral heroes.’
Among the dozens of high school cross country runners throughout the county who are participating in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League (SCCAL) this season, the competition is very strong — including one nationally-ranked female athlete.

The day was a hot 85+ degrees. The greens were, well, quite green considering the drought. Smiles and camaraderie, and good old-fashioned competition flourished. Three teams emerged the victors, with the fitting result that the Randy Getz memorial golf team of 3 again placed amongst the top (having clinched #1 for quite a few years).
