Congratulations to the middle school girls Gold team ‘” which has won the 2013 Silicon Valley Athletic League (SVAL) championship ‘” and finished the season undefeated with a record of 13-0! The last time the Hawks won SVAL was in 2006.
On November 19, the Hawks played San Jose’s Thomas More School for the championship. They lost the first game 18-25, and then rallied to win a close second game 25-23, and take the third game 15-11.
It’s well-known among local sports fans that volleyball is the premier sport at Mount Madonna School (MMS). Students, some as young as third grade, join and compete on MMS middle school teams; and these young athletes watchfully keeping their eyes on the taller nets and hard-hitting matches that junior varsity and varsity players face in high school.
Five enthusiastic teachers have joined the faculty at Mount Madonna School (MMS) this year. Ashley England, Brian Darsie, Kelly Cox, Micha Scott and Tina Pendleton will be working in an array of capacities including teaching middle school English and music, mathematics, physics, and elementary dance, and coaching volleyball.
Mount Madonna School’s (MMS) boys volleyball program has four pillars: middle school red and black, and high school junior varsity (JV) and varsity. While the varsity team recently completed a championship season, the JV, Black and Red teams also enjoyed strong play over these past months!
Mount Madonna School’s (MMS) girls volleyball program includes an elementary school team (Gold) and middle school team (Blue) – both of which compete in the Silicon Valley Athletic League (SVAL). Their season concluded November 6, and both teams experienced much growth and skill development.
At Thursday’s SCCAL Cross Country Finals he qualified for the Central Coast Section (CCS) competition. This is a milestone for MMS: Daniel is our first athlete to compete in Cross Country at the CCS level.
The CCS championship meet will be held on Saturday November 10 at Toro Park in Salinas.

The first practice (and all practices will start and meet at the same time and place) is set for the August 27 at 3:45 to 4:45pm (usually out early) at the Hawks Nest Gym. Middle School students are welcome to practice and run, but the Meets are limited to High School students only.
