Middle School Girls Volleyball Season Concludes

Mount Madonna School’s (MMS) girls volleyball program includes an elementary school team (Gold) and middle school team (Blue) – both of which compete in the Silicon Valley Athletic League (SVAL). Their season concluded November 6, and both teams experienced much growth and skill development.

The Gold team 3rd through 5th grade players are: Kayla Goldstein, Kahlan Tervalon, Savannah Cambell, Sara Bautista, Violet Forbes, Aliya Oswald, AnMei Dasbach-Prisk, Brielle Goldstein, Lily Hernandez, Paola Jacobs, Sarah Babcock, Senna Kolagotla, Sophia Willoughby, Tabby Hardin-Zollo, and Vianne Storrs. A big thank you to parent and Coach Anna Dasbach, and volunteer assistant coach and parent Debby Fust, for shepherding these young players through the season.

“It’s been an honor and a treat to be the coach for the Gold team and to watch all of the players not only learn how to serve and pass the ball, but to see their team spirit evolve and grow stronger with every game, whether they lost or won,” says Coach Anna. “The team played some very exciting matches with close finishes against teams with more experience and older players. We had a fun season and I got to witness a tremendous amount of growth in all of the players during practice and in the games. I hope that everyone will continue playing!”

The Blue team 6th, 7th and 8th grade players are: Eleanor Harrington, Ella Connor, Faith Viglizzo, Gracie Howley, Lekha Duvvoori, Sienna Clifton, Sydney Ota and Amalia Bernardi. Kudos to Coach Sidd McDonald for working with these young athletes over the past several months.

“MMS endeavors to have the finest girls volleyball program in the state for small schools,” comments Coach and MMS Athletic Director Sidd McDonald. “In this very competitive league our Gold Team just missed being in the playoffs.

“Our Blue team is a very talented squad of committed players. This team was predominantly comprised of 7th graders, and each girl got better over the season. The 6th graders were an integral part of the team, and our sole 8th grader showed good improvement too. I look forward to all of these young athletes returning next year to compete for a championship!”

Congratulations to players and coaches for a season well-played! Thanks as well to team parents Jen Goldstein (Gold) and Stephen and Karen Harrington (Blue) for the great communications and coordination, and to all parents who contribute by driving, feeding, and supporting the teams this season.
