Whether you come to walk in support of your favorite local nonprofit organization or for ensuing fun, the 7th annual Summit for the Planet Walk-a-thon and Earth Day Celebration offers something for all ages. The celebration will feature solar vehicle races, ‘eco-carnival’ games, live animals, community networking, ‘green’ businesses, live music, and delicious, organic foods – including ice cream from Santa Cruz’s Penny Ice Creamery!
From the unconditional love of ashram children, to personal stories of struggle and empowerment, to inspiring leaders working to educate youth and preserve cultures and traditions, the Mount Madonna School seniors who recently visited northern India experienced many enriching moments during their two-week learning journey.

On a recent sunny morning, marine biology students from Mount Madonna School met researchers at Elkhorn Slough near Moss Landing to help count shorebirds, including Snowy Egrets, Short-billed Dowitchers, Greater Yellowlegs, Willets, Spotted Sandpipers, Marbled Godwits, Killdeer, Black-bellied Plovers, Western Grebes, gulls, and many ducks, including Mallards, Red-breasted Mergansers, and Buffleheads.
Best of luck to aspiring young boxer Rosino LeGan, a junior at Mount Madonna School, who will head to Spokane, Washington next week to compete in the USA Boxing National Championships, April 1-6.
