Finish the Gym! Update

img_1153-mar-25-2016Dear School Community,

We are pleased to report that after seven years of fundraising efforts and work we received our final use permit for the new multipurpose gymnasium in August! We wish to express our appreciation to the entire community for their tremendous generosity and support for the gym, which opens new opportunities for athletics at Mount Madonna School (MMS). Students are already using the gym for volleyball practices and PE classes. This weekend we are hosting our annual girls varsity volleyball MMS Invitational Tournament in the new gym with eight teams participating. This new facility allowed us to add two more teams to the tournament.

On September 29, the parking lot is being asphalted and lined. Once the parking lot is ready and the scoreboard is programmed, we will begin regular hosting of our high school matches in the new gym. We have planned to purchase bleachers that attach to the wall and are motorized. The bleacher cost is $50,000. Currently, we have raised $25,000 directed towards this purchase. If you can help contribute to the bleachers, please contact me directly. Any amount will get us closer to the goal!

We continue to sell commemorative tiles and business banners to hang on the walls. Information on these opportunities can be found at https://test-mountmadonnaschool.pantheonsite.io/support/finish-the-gym/

Our golf tournament, Friday, Oct. 7, at De Laveaga will directly support the Finish the Gym! Campaign. Please join us to golf, play and eat dinner together – any or all of the above. Register at https://test-mountmadonnaschool.pantheonsite.io/golf/

Finally, we are planning a gym work party on Saturday, Oct. 22, (rain date Oct. 29) to help with landscaping, erosion control and clean-up. A light snack is provided but please bring gloves, good shoes, hat and sunscreen and rsvp to " target="_blank">

As with any new building, we continue to plow ahead with the finish work: equipment room, landscaping, donor recognition areas, picnic tables, etc. We thank all who have helped make this dream a reality for our students. Please visit the gym when you are on campus and come cheer on the Hawks either on the court or at their cross country meets!

With Gratitude,

Supriya
