“Haven’t you always wanted to help save the planet?” asked 5th grader Nathan Vince. Vince’s comment came following a class beach cleanup in Santa Cruz last fall. The fifth grade had already selected coastal cleanup and the problem of marine debris as a focus of study… but had no idea that their efforts would launch them into the national spotlight!
Into the Woods Cast List
Congratulations on your roles.
Some of you, we imagine will be elated, others neutral, and most likely some disappointed. The most important thing now is to move positively forward- those disappointed, unfortunately, that can be a part of casting experience. Hang in there. Avoid too much prejudgment about the worthiness of roles, about what you will or won’t sing, say or dance. As announced, there will be some song and line reassignments.

Welcome Back: Students Kick Off School Year with 4-Day River Rafting Trip
Pencils, paper, classrooms and new schedules….When you think of the first day back to school, what comes to mind? For some 65 high school students, their first day was anything but typical: arriving ninth through twelfth graders at Mount Madonna School (MMS) toted sleeping bags and swimsuits. The occasion? A beginning of the year, 4-day white water river rafting and camping trip! This annual tradition is just one of several enrichment opportunities students at MMS participate in throughout the year.
MMS: A Green School
Mount Madonna School has been a proud member of the Green Schools Program for several years. As a Green/Waste Free School, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce the amount of trash we generate as a school and instead reuse and recycle many of the items we use on campus every day. (Did you know that Santa Cruz County generates more than one million pounds of trash everyday?)
