‘We Ourselves Set this Problem in Motion, Let’s Help Save the Orcas of the Ocean,’ a project of the Mount Madonna School (MMS) fifth grade class, has won First Place in the environmental Class Challenge at the Santa Cruz Earth Day celebration on April 18. The students were presented with $300 prize for their First Place finish.
San Francisco, CA — Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that the 2013-14 fifth grade class at Mount Madonna School in Watsonville, Calif. will receive the President’s Environmental Youth Award for their work to fight environmental threats faced by California sea turtles. The awards are presented each year to exceptional students and teachers who demonstrate creativity, innovation, and leadership to address difficult environmental challenges.
What is the Summit for the Planet and why might you encourage people (especially families) to attend?
Summit for the Planet is an annual walk-a-thon and environmental festival held up at Mount Madonna School (MMS). Every April, the MMS community and more gather up on the mountaintop for a day of walking in the redwoods, listening to music, and participating in environmentally conscious activities.
Congratulations Hawks! Mount Madonna School’s (MMS) varsity boys volleyball brought home the silver, taking second place from among 16 regional teams that competed in the recent Aptos Varsity Tournament.

Mount Madonna, CA, April 2015 — The fifth grade class at Mount Madonna School (MMS) was recently awarded a Disney Friends for Change Youth Grant through Youth Service America (YSA).
Congratulations to Mount Madonna School students Given Rehani, 7th, Riley Wagner, 6th, and Zach Wagner, 9th, who recently participated in the Certificate of Merit Program for pian, at the University of California, Santa Cruz. All three passed their level requirements: Given, level one, Riley, level five and Zach, level seven.
