Name, age, grade, city of residence

CeCe Moreno, 16, 11th grade, Morgan Hill

What inspires you?

My parents inspire me because they work hard and are dedicated to making sure my brother and I go to a school we love, can play the sports we want to play, and are given opportunities that we will benefit from. They make me want to work hard and be successful so I can reciprocate these gifts later in life.

What is your favorite subject in school, and why?

English is my favorite subject because I love to read and then discover the meaning and messages that the author is trying to get across. I also like creative writing because it allows me to express myself without boundaries or censoring.

If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?

If I had the power, I would change the amount of pollution and trash that humans are putting into the ocean. It seems that because we cannot directly see how polluted the oceans are, and all the animals this pollution is effecting, that we do not realize the urgency of this issue.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

I would like to explore every inch of the rainforest because the plants and animals seem so different and unique there.

Name one big challenge in your life right now:

Balancing school, volleyball, and a social life seem to be the biggest challenge right now. All three are important to me but I don’t seem to have enough time for each of them.

What is your dream job?

I don’t have a specific dream job, but I would like it to involve communicating with and helping others, working in an engaging and interesting setting and a job in which I am constantly learning.

What are your three favorite things?

My friends and family, good food, and live music — in no particular order.

Favorite book:

In third grade I read my favorite book, ” Walk Two Moons ” by Sharon Creech, and it has stuck with me ever since.

What do you want to do after high school?

I want to go to college.

Something that makes you smile:

Playing lacrosse for the Clovers makes me smile, no matter how good or bad of a practice I’m having, because despite the fact that I’ve only known my teammates for a year, we are all like a family.

Top three most played songs on your iTunes or iPod:

1) Summer Nights by Iration
2) Arabella by Arctic Monkeys
3) Count Me In by Rebelution
