In 1990, an experimental class titled Values in World Thought was introduced to the 11th and 12th grade classes at Mount Madonna School using Bill Moyer's A World of Ideas as a text. In his two volumes of A World of Ideas, Bill Moyers provides us with inspiration for a vital conversation about personal and cultural values with our children. He does so at a time when both our children and our society are searching for ways to examine what it means to live a human life with dignity and purpose. By exposure to the ideas of great men and women who contribute so much to our cultural dialogue, students are encouraged to define their own belief systems and to critically examine their own life choices and actions.
