High School Athletics
We field competitive teams in girls and boys volleyball. In 2007 our girls varsity team took it all the way to win the Division V State Championship! Read full story here. Our boys volleyball team competes successfully in the Santa Cruz County Atletic League and has also won Championships.
We also host a school running club open to both boys and girls. Students run cross-country routes on our extensive network of trails and elsewhere around the county and participate in local running events. Fall 2009 will see the start of our official cross-country teams for both boys and girls.
We believe competitive athletics, for those who choose to participate, provides opportunities for team building, healthy competition, learning about winning and losing, and meeting new situations with enthusiasm.
As in most School activities, almost every member of the High School competes on one of these teams. We also have a physical education program that insures each student will develop an appreciation for physical fitness. Many of our students also participate in other programs that support being physically fit such as dance, or community based sports teams. In addition, many of the students participate in an independently sponsored club volleyball program that offers further opportunities for travel to several tournaments.
